The restaurant „Brasserie Löwen“ is located in the historic building of the Hotel Löwen right next to the beautiful Lake Zug.

The design combines typical elements of a french brasserie with a modern approach of furniture and material. Originally the brasseries had tiled floors, mainly in black and white, huge wooden bars and very often a number of pictures on the walls. In the „Löwen“ the designers inverted the use of materials: Tiles of various black and white patterns encase the bar, which seems to be a sculpture presented on a noble parquet floor of nutwood. The wooden floor and the accentuated lighting add a warm and cosy atmosphere to the room. The homelike ambience is intensified by a huge room-high shelf that forms the centre of the room and creates a separation between the seating areas while at the same time preserving a certain transparency.

The materials of the main room are again inverted in the small side room, resembling more to the traditional interior of a brasserie: Here the tiles cover the floor and a huge wooden table invites for  dining. In this part of the room a number of photographs and illustrations arouse the guest’s curiosity telling the story of the house and area in former times.

The colours black and white were chosen as a guiding principle for the design throughout the interior. In this regard the shelf as well as the eye-catching wine cabinet appear black on the outside and white on the inside. The restrained colour palette was extended with a light green, that is applied to the upholstering and the walls in the side room and also recurs in decorative objects.
