Task

The top floor of 25hours Vienna was originally intended to be a temporary lobby and reception for the first 34 suites of the building, but will now be redeveloped and renovated to meet the new functions and user needs.

Approach/Idea

The term and established name, “Dachboden,” meaning “attic,” is to be the central theme of the space, translated into a spatial design that is easily understood by all.

Implementation

As the name suggests, the 8th floor of the 25hours Hotel - located by the museum district in Vienna – sits directly under the roof of the building and offers spectacular views of the city.

Concrete floors, partitions made of wood planks, vintage furniture and other discoveries can be found here – as you would expect to find in any well-stocked attic in Vienna. These collectibles are combined with furniture designs created by Dreimeta, who is responsible for the interior design of the entire hotel. Contrasts, eclecticism and handpicked, unique items provide a homely atmosphere where guests can enjoy a good coffee or spend the evening with a glass of wine.

The redesign of the larger Loft has resulted in a greater number of seats and a bar that has more than doubled its size.

The smaller Loft, which will open towards the end of April 2015, features a smaller bar and can function as a meeting area or a private event space.

The combination of the two nearly doubles the original capacity of the space. It remains to be seen whether the queues for the popular bar will also double with the redesign or whether the increased capacity will finally reduce the wait.
