Tra gli ultimi anni 60 ed i primi anni 70 mentre negli U.S.A. seguiva i corsi per divenire eventualmente un lighting designer IALD, Maurizio Rossi, ottenendo ottimi risultati sia di critica che di pubblico, sperimentava l’uso di materiali allora poco ortodossi come il Plexiglas al fine ottenere delle forme che funzionassero efficientemente come lampade ma che mantenessero tutto il loro valore formale ed estetico di scultura una volta spente.

In the late 1960,s and early 70,s while studying in the U.S.A. to become an IALD lighting designer, Mr.Rossi designed a number of lighting sculptures, which were acclaimed by both the critics and public. Using Plexiglas, in a rather unorthodox way for that time, he experimented with forms and colors that were functional and efficient as luminaires but maintained all of their sculptural esthetic value when unlit.
