Fabricated Landscape:
Tensile Form in Horticultural Space United States / 2014
This installation involved originally taking (5 ) re-purposed 108" x 108" (274 cm. x 274 cm.) polypropylene mesh blankets and tensioning them over 12' h (3.7 m.) tall pressure treated wooden posts using a biodegradable twine, and/or vinyl chord. This temporary installation is meant to emulate waves and the clouds above and served as a temporary smaller scale sketch model for a more permanent idea the designer is envisioning in the city of Geneva - but the designer also notes that the forms' shape echo agri-entomological bug traps, a sustainable pest management system employed in orchards in vineyards, worldwide. Much of this research has been developed nearby the location of this site installation, at the Cornell University Agricultural Experiment and Research Station, in Geneva, NY, one mile away.
