Located in the centre of Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, Aman Sveti Stefan incorporates the island of Sveti Stefan, the pink, sandy beaches of Sveti Stefan, Miločer Beach and the renowned Queen’s Beach, and the 32-hectare estate just back from Queens’ Beach on which Villa Miločer is situated. Completed in 1936, Villa Miločer is surrounded by more than 800 olive trees, protected on three sides by ancient cedar and pine forests, and enjoys picturesque sea views of Sveti Stefan Island across the bay. The tiny islet itself saw its first renaissance in the 1950s when local villagers moved to the mainland and the island became a high-profile hotel for celebrities from the cinema and fashion worlds. The island underwent its second renaissance to complete Aman Sveti Stefan in 2011, and while its historic exterior remains largely unchanged, the resort’s interiors have been restored and updated to meet contemporary expectations. The island has also recently opened Aman Restaurant, the Bar, the Upper Terraces which offer beautiful sea views, and the resort’s main swimming pool which lies adjacent to the roof of the painstakingly restored Church of Alexandar Nevski – its ruin discovered during the island’s restoration process. Aman Sveti Stefan offers a total of 50 rooms, guest cottages and suites on the island, as well as Villa Miločer’s six suites and two one-bedroom Queen Marija Suites. Wireless internet access is available throughout.

Accommodation on the island is divided into Village Rooms, Cottages, Deluxe Cottages, Seaview Terrace Cottages, Grand Suites, the Adriatic Suite and the Sveti Stefan Suite which has its own private swimming pool. Views are of the sea, rooftops or quaint courtyards and piazzas, depending on their location. Every room, cottage and suite on the island is completely unique, just as one would expect from a place which evolved from a 15th-century fortress. All are decorated in a subtly elegant fashion, providing every modern comfort whilst retaining the historic air and ambience of the island. Priority in designing the interiors was given to preserving the original walls to remind one of the village’s origins. Furniture was designed especially for the island and much of the detailing, from the latches to the doors and windows, is based on what would have been on the island originally. The six spacious suites in Villa Miločer harmoniously blend a subtle palette of creams and browns with luxurious touches. Parquet floors are warmed by woollen rugs and a fireplace takes centre stage. Leather chairs and silk accents bring a contemporary brightness to the living quarters, while bathrooms feature parquet and antico stone floors, freestanding bathtubs and timber wardrobes. Each of the suites has a Juliet balcony with views either over the sea towards the island, or of the gardens. The two Queen Marija Suites are housed in a separate structure. Each is 125 square metres in size and features four separate rooms: a bedroom, bathroom, living room and dining room, decorated in a similar style to the Suites. A fireplace is located in both the living room and bedroom of both Queen Marija Suites, one of which is situated on the ground floor with a small terrace while the other is upstairs with ocean views.

Aman Sveti Stefan offers numerous dining venues including Queen’s Chair, Olive Restaurant and the Beach Café on the mainland, and a taverna, enoteca and antipasti bar set around the Piazza – the heart and soul of the island’s village setting. The island also offers Aman, the resort’s main restaurant which serves Montenegrin fare as well as international cuisine. The large dining room features breathtaking sea views and is complemented by the Bar – an ideal venue for refreshments throughout the day. Guests can also enjoy a drink and snacks on the Upper Terraces which offer superb views of the Adriatic and the island itself. At Villa Miločer, the Dining Room, Loggia and Living Room feature refined, marketdriven menus guided by the abundance of locally-caught seafood and fresh produce found in regional markets. All three restaurants offer panoramic views of Miločer Beach and Sveti Stefan Island. The Dining Room is an intimate space with seven tables surrounding a large open fireplace, while The Loggia features a wisteria-covered colonnade and large day beds. The Living Room includes a cosy lounge and offers breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails. Aman Sveti Stefan guests can enjoy a range of signature Aman Spa treatments in the privacy of their own accommodations, or in one of the six spa cottages scattered over the island. Also on offer is a gymnasium and two swimming pools.

Further afield, Aman Sveti Stefan provides guests with personalised guided excursions to natural and cultural attractions in the area – both along the Montenegrin coast and into the spectacular interior of the country. These include boating on the Adriatic; visiting the town of Budva, the royal capital of Cetinje and the beautifully-preserved baroque city of Perast; discovering the peaceful Skadar Lake; exploring the Bay of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; and enjoying private wine tastings at neighbouring vineyards. Upon prior arrangement, other activities offered include cycling, bird watching and an array of water sports such as sailing, diving and fishing, ensuring that guests of Aman Sveti Stefan are provided with a range of bespoke experiences that embrace the unique spirit of Montenegro.
