The Lair Condominiums Project is located on a steep hillside in an historic neighborhood near downtown Portland, Oregon.
The organizing feature of the project is a courtyard that provides both pedestrian and auto access to the interior of the site, thereby enabling 10 townhomes to cluster around a shared space. An additional 3 flats that occupy a level below the courtyard are accessed from a stairway that descends to that level and the adjoining street.
The building responds to its context with bay windows and wood details that recall the elements and decoration of the neighboring Victorian houses.
