SITA, a global specialist in communications and information technologies for air transport, established a major command centre in Montreal in 2011. This centre, which helps manage the operations of more than 300 airports and 2,000 airlines around the world, groups air-to-ground communications, services provided to airports, a data centre and support service for telecommunications networks in a single place.

Set up in collaboration with a U.S. agency, the centre originally occupied the 23rd floor of a downtown office tower. An initial expansion soon followed with the renovation of the tower’s 24th floor, doubling the area occupied by SITA.

Special attention was paid to details and to the finishing materials both in the public areas and in the workspaces. Details are treated in a sober, minimalist fashion. The brilliant finishes, including lacquered wood, Italian quartz tiles and small LED bulbs inserted in partitions and walls, evoke the sparkling aspect of aircraft and runways.
