A large piece of stone is carved to create two adjoining homes, intertwined by a series of courtyards at the scale of the family, the unit, and the individual. The central courtyards interconnect to craete a cascading landscape, while the east and west courtyards provide more intimate settings. These carvings reveal an inner skin with wood cladding whose warmth and intimate scale contrasts with the stone exterior.
