Ecole polyvalente

The project fits into the reconversion of the warehouse Calberson, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. It meets the requirements of the master plan of OMA agency which provides for the retention of the existing facade and a decomposition into horizontal strata : Crystal/mineral.

The main building envelope is closed by a fully glazed curtain wall.
These facades are orchestrated by a succession of vertical aluminium anodised louvers.
Their graduation, denser for the private parties, is released to allow greater transparency at the level of the more public parties.
The facades on the internal school courtyards express their evanescence by a succession of inclinated zinc panels. These panels have the same composition of the roofs but they are fragmented and positioned in order to improve the acoustic of the building.
The panels are made of wooden planks on which took place the zinc sheets, following the ancient technique of the parisian roof (toit parisien)
These elements are fixed on metal walkways by elements especially designed for the project.

The project has planned also the conversion of the north and south façades. These ones were made of a precast concrete grid, passing in front of the internal windows complemented by full spandrel up and down.
The south facade has been fully and identically reconstructed (grid and spandrels) while in North façade the spandrels up and down have been preserved.
