DULWICH HILL RESIDENCE | Davis Architects
Dulwich Hill / Australia / 2010
The Dulwich Hill site presented an interesting challenge for Davis Architects in that it faces due south, so the design focused on receiving sunlight into the living spaces during mid winter. This was achieved through large north facing skillion roof forms which allows winter sun to penetrate deep into the room interiors, whilst excluding the harsh summer sun. Re-cycled timber cladding was used externally and will be allowed to weather naturally over time.
The house also benefits from environmental features such as solar hot water, rainwater storage used for flushing toilets and washing, as well as water storage used for reticulated garden watering
