Ningbo HKE Relay | Progetto CMR - Massimo Roj Architects

The project is a large interior design commission for a multifunctional building belonging to an industrial group located in the growing CBD of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.

The key features of the design are the unique use of materials in creating an attractive and stylish modern environment to welcome and entertain guests. A tailor made floor design, rising up to the walls, combined with a sculptural wooden wall cladding is creating the warm atmosphere for the entrance lobby. Metal meshes and an impressive black glass puzzle characterize secondary spaces.

The inner courtyard is designed as a modern plaza, with relax and exhibition area overlooking a new suspended platform at the 9th floor. The platform is the added value of the project, made of glass and steel, a visionary bright element of design accessible only by top guests as a floating sky walk.

The third floor hosts a boutique hotel with a classy style that merges elements of modernity and tradition, with darkish wood, silk and leather details. The eight floor is the one where the Presidential office is located together with its facilities, such as meeting room and private bar. The atmosphere of these spaces is intimate, creating a comfortable environment for friendship and business, with warm materials such as natural stone and wood floors and wall surfaces. At the ninth floor are located entertainment spaces with an open space layout, integrating a multifunctional room, a reception desk and a lounge bar. The design here undertakes the challenge to combine the singular design of the building with the newly designed platform, mixing irregular shapes and attractive materials. The use of aluminum for the cladding reinforces the idea of a futuristic top floor, connected with the platform and the huge central skylight. A VIPs room is also designed here in order to accommodate and entertain top guests, and it features a curved wall cladded with wood and leather, and an impressive marble fireplace close to the tea area.

The rooftop design is focused on the entertainment with a glazed sky bar and an outdoor swimming pool. The bar has a darkish atmosphere with shiny materials and details, such as the round stainless steel bar table. A stair leads VIPs guests to an astronomic observatory equipped with professional tools that can be seen from the bar. Here the roof can be opened with the touch of a button to create a unique and private astronomic experience. The swimming pool area is a space where people can enjoy a full range of entertainment in a modern design environment with a nature atmosphere given by wooden floors and beach style outdoor furniture.

The project overall invites guests to enjoy a pleasant stay in the building creating different atmospheres linked by a welcoming warmness of materials and details.
