DIALOG in partnership with JPRA Architects were retained by Oxford Properties Group to provide interior design and architectural services to convert Yorkdale Mall’s hidden third floor retail area into an inviting upscale ‘Urban Eatery’. Working with the complexity of a confined space, the design team worked closely with Oxford Properties Group and consultants to maximize the available space within an aggressive timeframe. The new urban eatery, “Dine on 3”, exudes upscale elegance while incorporating the efficiency of the “China Service” dinnerware system with a scullery to handle large scale dishwashing needs.

The team realized Oxford Properties Group’s vision for a welcoming third floor entrance by renovating the ground and second floors to introduce two sets of glass clad escalators with an elegant centre staircase. The glass enclosed double elevator provides convenient access to the second and third floor levels. Increased daylight is provided with the inclusion of a cantilevered glass enclosed terrace and atrium spaces allowing for indoor and outdoor seating as weather permits. Numerous skylights have been added throughout the food court space to ensure daylight reaches all areas.

High-end materials including, glass and marble as well as custom light fixtures by Gabriel Mackinnon were employed in keeping with the upscale urban theme; tenant branding is designed to reflect the urban context.
