In a welcoming gesture, the entrance foyer opens to the existing front plaza. The resulting space is a zone of smooth transition between inside and outside, a place of public and cultural encounter.

The principle of “open house” is consistently implemented by means of a permeable and transparent façade system. The foyer is used for extension of the outer space. The result is a public square related to the inside of the Haus der Musik.

The arrangement of all the program in the ground floor allows the space of the foyer to connect to all sides of the building to the road network of the flanking streets and roads. A place of maximum transparency and accessibility arises.

By means of a staged staircase creates an extension of public space to the upper levels, where the restaurant and the institute functions are. The foyer extends over all stories as a vertical link between levels and functions within the complex.
