Duccio Grassi was invited to re-design the interiors of the Al Hamra Mall when the structure of
the building was already almost completed.
DGA has designed the interior decoration and the finishing of the five levels of the mall, taking
the limits of the structure as a stimulus for new solutions.
DGA has re-designed the shape of the main central plaza and of other openings at various
levels, making them more fluid.
The tower of the elevators at the centre of the mall, re-designed with an eliptic shape, has
been transformed into a giant curved screen, where images fade away from the centre. This
innovative and high impact item can certainly be considered the icon of the mall.
The special barrisol-made false ceiling is crossed by diagonal cuts of light which dialogue with
similar cuts on the floor.
Special custom-made furniture at the basement floor contribute to the unique elegant luxury
of this mall, confirmed by the choice of Italian design furniture for the stylish VIP lounge at the
second floor.
DGA has designed the lay-out and the guidelines of the cafè court aiming at bringing the color
and the conviviality of Italian streets and plazas to the mall.
At the first floor the finishing of the entertainment area maintains the high level with the
selection of the wood and black painted glass coverings.
The floors and coverings of the ladies and gentlemen rooms of the mall are respectively made
of white marble and dark stone with different and special surfaces.
