Résidence de Brésoles

Le projet de Brésoles me demandait de faire l'aménagement, la conception et de gérer la fabrication d'une cuisine, tout en y intégrant une section lounge au fond de la pièce.  Le défi de ce projet était bien sûr m'assurer que la nouvelle cuisine allait cohabiter en harmonie avec l'existant de ce loft patrimonial du Vieux-Montréal.  Malgré le contexte, j'ai opté de travailler tout en longueur avec une note très moderne.  Je voulais accentuer l'effet de longueur de la pièce, et rendre l'îlot de 13 pieds de long la pierre angulaire du loft.  J'ai fait blanchir le bois du plancher pour alléger la pièce qui avait déjà des poutres et plafond en bois de l'époque.  Le comptoir plus noble en granite ''quartzite'' avec un veinage très linéaire, vient faire le lien entre les cabinets plus froids, les murs de fibro ciment et le reste du loft.  Le design apporté dans cet environnement a eu pour effets de retrouver le point central de l'endroit, tout en respectant les lieux originaux.  De plus, on retrouve maintenant un certain rythme qui était absent dans le loft avant, ce qui rend l'endroit beaucoup plus vivant et agréable.

The project De Brésoles was asking me to create, set up and manage the fabrication of a complete kitchen, and integrate a lounge section at the complete end.  The biggest challenge of this project was to make sure the new kitchen was able to live in harmony with the existing parts of this patrimonial Old Montreal loft.  In spite of the context, I decided  to work with the lenght of the space with an accentuated modern note.  I wanted to increase the lenght effect of the loft, and make the 13 feet island the focal point of this space.  The original wood floor was bleached to make it visually lighter as the room had already old wood beams and ceiling.  The noble granit ''quartzite'' counter with his very linear veins is linking the cold and modern cabinets, the concrete walls and the rest of the loft.  The design brought in this space gave the opportunity the have back a focal point that was unexisting before, and keep the original spirit at the same time.  We also have a rhythm  now in the room, and this was completly absent before.  It makes the place more alive and pleasant.
