In cell regeneration processes and in neuronal processes that regulate the nervous system there is an energy core that regulates each type of connection with the external sectors and the nearby sources of energy. It is the same in the process of urban regeneration.
The processes regulating the urban development are social processes, even though often is possible think otherwise. We work on it for the L’Aquila City.
The city of L’Aquila, main town of Abruzzi (Italy) is located in the middle area of the Italian peninsula.
An earthquake devastated L’Aquila in 2009, and all connections with its surrounding parts were broken; the central core, source of energy, stopped living. The historical centre was and still is a place of identity, a place that transcends the definitions of space and cannot be define as the sum of areas or volumes.
In our proposal in order to make L'Aquila find unitary cohesion between its parts, it’s necessary to return to live the City with continuity, fluidity and consistency; the urban neuron sews a net full of activities, experiences and meeting spaces for public use inside the city texture, the urban neuron sews an alive network. The neuron is fed by urban knowledge; it is powered by community connections and collective participation.
THE URBAN NEURON CREATES ATTRACTIVE PULSES AND POWERFULL LINKS STARTING FROM THE CITY.
LONG BEFORE CONSIDERING IS CONSISTENCY OF CONCRETE AND STONES, THIS CORE AKNOWLEDGES THE CITY AS MADE BY THE MEN LIVING IT.
