Pad D is a located in Distrito 1, a commerce and office complex in the city of Chihuahua, México. The program consists of six commercial spaces, modulated for easy adaptability. Exposed structure defines spaces, gives a human scale proportion and serves as solar protection.

The project uses a series of materials and color for communication purposes: dark grey for structure, light gray for stucco, black for screen windows and doors. White aluminum panels are used to divide each commercial space and black aluminum panels denote location of doors in the façade. Sidewalks are constructed in different colors and textures: black to indicate where each space starts and ends, and rugged concrete finish to indicate entryways.

The general module is 1.22 meters wide (4 feet) and varies in height and materials. Structure, aluminum panels, windows, doors, sidewalks and parking spaces respond to these dimensions, and allows for future user adaptation and a more effective, low-cost construction process. The cantilevered structure gains height for visibility from the adjacent main street (urban scale) and provides climate protection for commercial spaces and users (human scale).
