The thread and colour line | Inteoria
exhibition Stalowa Wola / Poland / 2013
“The thread and colour line” exhibition aims at recreating in an artistic form the process of producing natural thread and dyes in Polish folk tradition. It consists of several ethnographic exhibits including old tools for manufacturing yarn and line, as well as national costumes, using specific types of folk embroidery. It includes a section containing raw materials such as plants, natural dyes and fibers. The way the stretched coloured lines are displayed brings out the symbolic character of the thread. Its simplicity adds a sense of coherence and connection between the spacial forms. This, together with the white background which enhances the colours of the threads and their sequence, helps to guide the visitor through the various sections of the exhibition.
