Obese Clinic | Anna Dolcetta

The project is developed in Rotterdam, Westersingel and it is focused on the hospital type of building. The programme is a obese clinic, with daily treatments and short-stay rooms. The programme is divided between a more private part where patients can benefit from treatments, swimming pool and gym and a more public part where there will be a conference room, a cooking school and health cafè in order to make people aware of obesity problems. On the design level, the area offers two important sides, the one towards the street and the one towards the park. These two sides have been important during the design process, indeed on the street side there will be the main entrance and the more public part of the buildings. Contrary on the park side there will be the private part in order to communicate the feeling of calm and intimacy to the patients. The programme has been spread on four different blocks, each with a specific functions, and all connected by the corridors, which has been studied in order to always face the outside. The final design will be a connection point between the main street and the park, moreover it will be the main centre for obesity treatments and health care information in Rotterdam.
