The Kings Gate development for the  Newcastle University houses the University student services, administration and executive offices and now provides a major gateway into the university campus.

Due to architectural, aesthetic and servicing requirements the building structure is an in-situ reinforced concrete frame, consisting of a flat slab with exposed soffits, and exposed reinforced concrete columns. The site is adjacent to an existing Victorian sewer main and an underground Metro tunnel, both of which have affected the foundation solution and substructure.
