In the eastern Mediterranean, on the west coast of Turkey, facing the Greek islands of Lemos and Patmos, close to Bodrum, the ancient Halicarnassus, atop a headland 135 m above sea level (longitude 27° 24' 30.63" E; latitude 37° 19' 14.46" N), the new building is constructed in a style in keeping with the fortresses, citadels, churches and monasteries that have characterized the landscape of the Mediterranean.
A banked wall of stone from the immediate vicinity delimits the geometric ground plan and the grounds themselves, helping the upper horizontal plane of the platform to merge with the natural topography, while also housing within it, illuminated by patios and fissures in the wall, the complementary program of hammam, gymnasium and various rooms, as well as the installations, storage areas, service entrances and accesses to the upper platform.
Upon this platform, on a 40 x 40 meter-square ground plan with its axis on a north-south diagonal (the orientation of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul), there is a structure of screens, cantilevered girders and concrete pillars that go to form the skeleton of the building. A huge 6 m eave protects the ground-floor level beneath its shade, acting as a porch and intermediary space between inside and outside. On it, an intercolumniation of screens and pillars, along with huge roof lanterns, rounds the building off against the sky.
Within, an ample, off-center, double-height atrium is converted into the heart of the building: a place for exhibitions, encounters and celebrations. The different interiors—dining room, hall, library, cinema, assembly rooms—wrap around the great atrium on the ground floor, as, on the upper floor, do the apartments, managerial and meeting spaces, and the offices that complete the program. From this level, an open courtyard affords access to the upper viewing terrace, a place for encounters and open-air events facing the landscape.
The flexibility of its structure will have to enable different uses and demands to be accommodated over the course of time.
In its conception the intervention seeks after timelessness and permanence.

En el Mediterráneo oriental, en la costa oeste de Turquía, frente a las islas griegas de Lemos, Patmos,…muy cercano a Bodrum, antigua Halicarnaso, en la cima de un promontorio a 135 m sobre el mar (long 27º 24’ 30,63´´ - lat 37º 19´ - 14,46 ´´) se construye el nuevo edificio a la manera como las fortalezas, ciudadelas, templos o monasterios han ido pautando el paisaje del Mediterráneo.

Un muro en talud construido en piedra del propio lugar delimita el partí geométrico y el recinto, ayudando a entregar el plano horizontal superior de la plataforma con la topografía natural, al tiempo que alberga en su interior, iluminados por patios y brechas en el muro, el programa complementario del Hammam, el gimnasio y las diferentes salas, así como las instalaciones, almacenes, entradas de servicio y los accesos a la plataforma superior.

Sobre ella, en planta cuadrada, de 40 x 40 m, con el eje en diagonal norte – sur, orientación de la mezquita azul de Estambul, se construye una estructura de pantallas, jácenas en ménsula y pilares de hormigón que constituyen el esqueleto del edificio. Un gran alero de 6 m protege el nivel de planta baja en la sombra, actuando de porche y espacio intermedio entre interior y exterior. Sobre él, un intercolumnio de pantallas y pilares remata junto a los grandes lucernarios el edificio contra el cielo.

En el interior un gran atrio excéntrico a doble altura, se convierte en el corazón del edificio, lugar de exposición, encuentro y celebración. Las diversas estancias: comedor, sala, biblioteca, cine, salas de reunión, envuelven en planta baja el gran atrio, así como en la planta superior, lo hacen las habitaciones, los espacios de dirección o reunión y las oficinas que completan el programa.
Desde este nivel, un patio abierto permite el acceso a la terraza superior mirador, lugar de encuentros y de eventos al aire libre frente al paisaje.

La flexibilidad de su estructura deberá permitir recoger los diferentes usos y demandas a lo largo del tiempo. La intervención en su concepción, busca la atemporalidad y la permanencia.
