Like a big tent, or a like a protecting hand or a fortification, the new building is situated and linked to the existing military buildings that represent the military history. We wanted the museum to be well visible from the highway E18.

We chose to make an expressive addition to the two old storage buildings with respect to their style and orientation and add a new functional building as a wing.

The new building is lower than the exiting wagon supply. Facade and roof is lined with galvanized sheets,  which is relatively inexpensive, maintenance-free and that makes the surface alive and associates to other similar old military buildings.

The walls and roof together and finishes in the form into a sculptural whole. Towards the existing buildings there is a wood Falun Red painted Façade. The new building gives the impression of growing up from the ground. Military vehicles is positioned  in the open area between the five “fingers”

We are using materials  on the ground in the same way as at many military installations, gravel,
grass and hints of stone. The feeling of a military training area is to be maintained. The area between the three houses is a graveled open space drill site, which is part of the outdoor display of vehicles.

Inside the entrance the visitor is met well overall functions of reception desk, cafe, shop, wardrobe, toilet, shop. Beyond these is a big exposition area under the “tent roof.”

The new building, which is basically a large room, located exhibition constructed according to the "Black box" principle. In the yard there’s a big port of entry of large objects. Window has been given different sizes and modes: low-set, as the room's western part, so that the visitor closer to the ground with eyes to see trench perspective. Large windows provide visual contact with site entrance and courtyard, with the two buildings.

From new building, which contains temporary exhibitions and parts the exhibits are guided through a glazed with a thin tin roof walking into the old wagon store. There inside the cobblestone floor, a number of vehicles. The stairs are maintained and strengthened against the stairway fire.

One floor up is an exhibition under the current plan or it is facilitating the walls down to build the exhibition stalls. The walls bear the new top layer of the same wood paneling as far as possible after isolation of the walls.

Other port openings in the base floor fitted with glass on the inside which acts as both climate boundary and makes it possible to open building's doors wide open at will. The ground floor is supposed to be exposed vehicles, which harmonizes well with the building original function as trailer storage.

An exterior influence is the inclusion of the doorway in building's northern end. This is done at the old window openings.
