The new elderly housing of the city of Saint Brieuc, in Brittany, slot in the center of Cesson district, on a greenfield site of any construction.


The structure integration into its environment was a priority. To respect the residential character of the neighborhood while providing a contemporary and attractive image to the institution. The created building is the combination of nine small blocks, double-pitched roof, incorporating traditional architectural codes of pavilions nearby. These are connected by walkways and corridors on flat roof, creating in his heart two inner patios.


Rifts were designed to make each sub-entity independent. They outline the facade and gives a warmth to the building and brings comfort for occupants.


Landscaped outdoor spaces surround the building. They are treated as walking areas connected to the neighborhood. This position of the project ownership and the town of St Brieuc has to mission to integrate the institution in the life of the neighborhood by promoting social mixing and interaction with the neighborhood.


The project uses different materials:


- Zinc in roofing and cladding, a system Riverlack orange hue to mark the entrance on the main facade, wood siding blades openwork douglas fir, for warmth, a coating of white shade offers a bright façade inside the patio and cement render gray indicates the technical area at the rear of the building.


These materials and colors sets mark the different units of this elderly housing and energizes all while providing a warm and welcoming look.


The establishment entrance, branded in facade of a brightly colored orange leads into a bright and friendly lobby.


From there, all services are clearly identified: an administrative area, a reception area for families, a hairdresser, an area of ​​care and Alzheimer's unit on the ground floor and a nursing home located in the floor.


The Alzheimer sector, on the ground floor, grows throughout the southern part of the building surrounding the south patio. It is accessible via a secure door from the hall.


This division is divided into two units of 12 beds connected by a continuous flow. The rooms open either on the patio or in the garden outside.


Upstairs are grouped three living units in nursing homes and common areas.


The establishment, organized as a real living, welcomes and integrates residents in a stimulating social environment while respecting the individuality and privacy. Residents can thus intersect and share their daily while retaining their autonomy.
