Long Bar Reception


GHM entrusted Denniston with the task of creating an unforgettable first impression when welcoming guests at The Chedi Andermatt.


The all too familiar scenario of checking in has been revamped, allowing the guests to have an informal aesthetic experience of arriving to The Chedi, Andermatt.


What greets the guest as they enter The Chedi, Andermatt is an impressive lobby reception better known as the Long Bar. Carved from sleek black stone, this Long Bar spans 30 meters long.


In addition to its function as a reception, The Long Bar is also a display of elegant artworks from Asia that reflect the Asian influence of the GHM Group and behind the Long Bar colossal wine cellars, riveted with blacken steel enhances the allure of The Chedi, Andermatt. The collection of refine vintage wines in the cellars allows the guests a sneak preview of the selection of the rare and discerning selection that awaits them.


In addition, as a warm welcome during winter, a glass of a warm glue wine is served to warms them from the freezing cold winter of Andermatt.


Look up and almost 6 meters above the Long Bar, a 30 meters long mirrored glittering chandelier is a sight to behold. Its design is inspired by 1910’s grand palaces where the European Aristocracy was known to spend winter holidays and in keeping memory of the previous “Hotel Bellevue” on the ground of which The Chedi, Andermatt has been build.


The dramatic yet inviting set up of the Long Bar area has been designed as a vector of social life in the heart of this homely hotel. It leads the guests to several other lounge areas such as a lounge dining, a wine lounge even a cigar lounge all featuring fire places where guest can warmly socialize and gather at ease with a drink in a cozy atmosphere.


THE DINNING LOUNGE


The Long Bar has several purposes; as a functional subtle reception, it morphs fluidly into a social and dinning lounge area
The Dinning lounge link perfectly the long bar in the heart of the hotel, allowing the guests gather and enjoy drinks amongst friends, play games with their family or simply to relax anytime of the day around the dramatically central fire place surrounded by riveted with blacken steel columns supporting partitioned timber bricks ceilings.


The central wood burning fire place, sitting on a stone and timber floor pattern, is the prefect place around witch guests enjoy relaxing on opulent sofa-beds laying in the numerous fur and velvet large through pillows. The sofa-beds are backed up by contemporarily treated quirky baroque consoles. The Baroque consoles, display various sizes of art work form Asian and Indonesia.


At the back you would find a lounge sitting areas, articulated by imposing burgundy red leather screen.
For more intimate guest have the opportunity the retreat in one the three lounge alcoves protected by 6 meters high timber lattices providing a feeling a privacy.



Lounge Cigar & Wine


From the Main Entrance the guest chose to go straight instead of stopping by the Long Bar Reception. The timber arched lift lobby featuring blackened steel walls and lift doors, will lead you to the Main Lounge. The main Lounge has also its imposing wood burning fire place made of sand blasted Bleu Belgium stone. Here the dark timber oak contrast with the light oak of the chairs and sofa.
On the left hand side, the cigar smokers will find their heaven in the cigar lounge where guest can not only purchase the best cigars in a very detailed walking humidor, they can also enjoy it, in the most cozy lounge library, comfortably seated in leather sofas surrounded by interesting Asian art-work and books shelves.


On the right hand side, wine connoisseur will be attracted by the colossal 6 meters high wine cellars, displaying the most refine wine Grand cru from around the world.
The wine lounge proposes some tasting area around a large marble table for group of friends. For a more relax setting leather sofas and chairs are available to degust these refine wines.


The 3 lounges over look the inner court yard and have a stunning view over the Andermatt Valley and Mountain.

In a hidden corner of the 3 Lounges, Playful guests will find entertainments, around the towering at 6 meters high book shelves filed with books from around the world of the Library. The game tables are surrounded by massive Indonesian bronze monk statues on pedestals, flanking the bookshelves, as guardians. The walls are decorated with huge wall mounted contemporary paintings artworks.



Ski Lounge & Boutique


Being a winter ski destination Denniston also re-invented the SKI BOUTIQUE for The Chedi, Andermatt. The 6 meters high ceiling SKI BOUTIQUE is a new concept where guests can have an access to a wide array of the best ski materials and equipments. All this, while surrounded by elegant sofas around fire place, directly reflecting the Hotel’s exquisite taste and quality.


SKI BAR
Linked directly to the SKI BOUTIQUE, is the SKI BAR warmly decorated with Asian & Swiss Art works in a refine timber and stone atmosphere.


With direct access after a sporting afternoon on the Andermatt ski slope,s Guests can warm up and relax around open fire places, in the luxuriously long sofas sitting on Asian rugs just before embarking on a thrilling slalom on the snow.


Late in afternoon, the SKI BAR transforms it-self into a social haven. Equipped with the top of the line F&B equipment that have been seamlessly integrated in the refine oak cabinetry, the 6 meters high bar feature a stone bar counter where the guest can unwind with friends and be spoilt for choice with the best handcrafted beverages and surrounded by refine Asian art works.


When summer arrives, the SKI BAR open its outdoor lounges composed of a stone lounge bench that encircles a massive fire place. Opened till early evenings, guests are invited to take in the sun at this outdoor space. Finely upholstered pads and elegant throw cushions softens the stone exterior and numerous fur blankets are also made available to ensure the warmth of the guests in the slightly deceptive clear skies that retain the chilly weather of Andermatt Mountains in summer.



The Pool Lounge & SPA


On the back ground of the Main Lounge central wood burning fire place, appears the glass covered swimming pool also offering its own lounge areas.
The 7 meters high glass ceiling and side walls provides tones of light during the day light and a stunning view of the surrounding mountains.
The 33 meters long Bleu Belgium stone swinging pool is surrounded by rich exotic wooden timber floor, treated with black joins, just like a boat deck.
The long the back cleft stone wall is animated by a series of seven gas fire-places.
Above each fire pleases is feature a dramatic black & white baroque painting warming up the opposing architecture.


Designed as the link between the SPA and Lounges, the pool lounge is busy almost at all time since you would find guests lazing on the sun-beds catching their breath after long labs of swimming in the morning or afternoon or Guests coming from the SPA and still enjoying the warm temperature control atmosphere of the Pool Lounge late afternoon. At night you would find guest in evening wear sipping champagne before diner.
Located in the inner court yard garden of the hotel, with all the night lights reflecting on the water, the luxurious pool appears as a focal bright feature of the garden, visible from most of the guest-rooms.


SPA
As mention above The Chedi Andermatt has been design with one of the biggest SPA in Switzerland with an entire therapeutic level counting no less than 8 treatment rooms, including 2 beauty rooms, 4 standards single and 2 double treatment rooms providing the cozy timber atmosphere, spacious on suite bathroom inviting in the double bathtub & Jacuzzi, fire place and the best view over the Alps.
After their treatment guests can enjoy the Tibetan inspired relaxation room, where ergonomic daybeds from which Tibetan artist photos are rhythmically project according the ambient Music, specifically per daybeds.


On the Lower level the SPA provides on top of yoga and Pilates a large homely refine with artworks decorated gym where all the latest exercise machines are available.


In warmer atmosphere, in the Hydro area massive stone & timber, gas fire places are featured at both ends of the stone lounge warm pool baths 2.
All along the pool runs a long burgundy red daybed bench under the full height window overlooking the snowy landscaped garden, contemplated by the guests from the burgundy-red lounge sofa alcove.
Timber saunas, stone steam rooms and cold plunge pool are also part of the hydro area.
