Contemporary conversion which engages with its natural landscape.  Not a traditional conversion, but the adaptation of an existing structure and its careful reunion with an extension.

The goal was to maintain the integrity of the inherited architecture, expand liveable space, and engage the interior with its dramatic landscape.  Thru this, new spatial opportunities were discovered:  living and sleeping areas were separated by the natural U shape of the house, a lap pool was built in the courtyard creating a new outdoor living space, a second floor was added with 1 bed/bath to take advantage of the views.

Throughout the house, the most pervasive feature is the extensive views.  Large open space and broad banks of windows create long visual perspectives and the extensive use of of wood, concrete, and glass preserves its natural modesty.
