Zara flagship store in Zurich | Elsa Urquijo Architects

The new Zara flagship store in Zurich, is located at Bahnhofstrasse, one of the busiest streets of the city. The building, designed by architects Haefeli Moser Steiger in 1968, is characterized by the enhancement of the structure as a compositional element. In our proposal, It has been our intention to respect the architecture of the building, emphasizing its Cartesian geometry through a geometric and orthogonal design, where floors and ceilings emphasize the outlines of the project, therefore organizing exterior which is used as a reference for the interior of the building.

A measured, tidy and ordered space, in coherence with the building in which it is situated where the facade has been treated as a filter, permitting an interaction between the interior and exterior of the building, allowing to see the outside from the store out , while obscuring the view from the street.
