The site is in the suburbs in Osaka. The site area is 231 square meters, it is an average numerical value in Japan. A road is located on the northside.

Parents of the client lived in this standard residential area.

The client was planning to rebuild the old house for parents and his family.

In a new house, the client's family lives on the second floor, and his parents live on the first floor.

Although the entrance is shared, they had each wanted living room, kitchen, and a bathroom on each floor.

And also they needed a space for children on the second floor, and a guest room on the first floor.

The client liked the white cube style as an image of the appearance.

A part of the cube was dug for a parking lot. And we proposed a covered terrace on the second floor in the same position of the parking lot, as they can see the pond and grove from there.

This terrace (and parking) adds a depth and shadow on a flat surface, it has become a feature of the appearance.

In contrast to the north (where the wall is conspicuous), the ridge of the mountain can be seen from the large glass side on the south side.

The skylight which crosses the center of this house sends a soft light to the bedroom with no windows on the second floor and also sends a light in the entrance hall of the foot of the stairs indirectly.

We tried to create a space of plentiful brightness in this white cube.

In order to keep the covered terrace bright on the north side, we reflected the sunlight on the wall by omitting a part of the roof.

This terrace can be accessed from the living room and also the bedroom.

We hope the space for this semi-outdoor living room induces a variety of children's activities in the future.
