A part of a garment factory is renovated and transformed, to create a dynamic juxtaposition of the existing factory space and the new office space. The central working space is designed as a passage, which connects factory space to the exterior. This passage provides view to the factory, which was formerly mostly enclosed, as well as increases the communication between staff and factory workers. Closed rooms like the directors room and meeting rooms are positioned along this central working space.
Local materials are used throughout the project such as exposed bricks and bamboo. A pliable bamboo ceiling, concealing mechanical equipment and lighting fixtures, is designed to signify a textile surface. Stainless wires are attached to existing facade and covered with bougainvillea. The warm and natural materials provoke a stark contrast to the existing steel structure of the factory.
