Bucharest / Romania / 2014
The club is situated on the ground floor of Victoria Shopping Center, one of Bucharest's oldest shopping buildings
The concept was to create a place inspired by the American prohibition period, with speakeasy character and jazzy atmosphere.
For this we used materials like brass (a specific material for jazz instruments), curtains to cover the walls (specific element of stages and concerts), a piano hanged by the ceiling over the main entrance, Edison lighting bulbs for lightning, green velvet sofas. All of this is used in high contrast with a very brutal approach for the rest of the finishings of the space, that show the old building very honestly: raw concrete ceiling, raw metal girders exposed on the ceilings (discovered when we exposed the concrete ceiling), raw metal furniture. This contrast also induces a decadent feeling, specific for the speakeasy concept.
We also have some link with the historic building that accommodates the bar, using mannequins transformed in lightning objects.
