The land in itself was very complex due to its shape and the owners wanted very specific guidelines for their architectural project. One of them was that nature had to form part of the house and the scenery had to be seen throughout the house. Another guideline was to have ample spaces with double and triple heights. The architect, Alonso de Garay, worked closely with Estudio 2.28 in the challenging design which had a great result! Estudio 2.28 also closely supervised the construction made by an independent contractor.

The interiors also presented a relevant challenge since the huge spaces are not conventional and thus each space had to be thought out individually as well as considering the overall spaces in order to achieve visual harmony.

The main materials used in the project where wood, iron, concrete and stone. The furnishings where thought individually for each area considering the family needs and emphasizing the use of all spaces. All spaces are used on a daily basis by the family so part of the challenge was to make every room comfortable and homey. All spaces have a commonality between them. The predominant styling is around sober colors, linen, cotton, velvet, leather and natural stones which make all furniture very cozy.

Almost all furniture was designed and manufactured in Mexico by Estudio 2.28. Estudio 2.28 has a large number of high quality suppliers and artisans which allow the studio to create the spaces as they are imagined.

The predominant space in the house is the living room and dining room. This is the place where different heights, floor to ceiling windows and moving doors collide with the garden, integrating all of these spaces with the landscape. When someone walks in the house they are immediately surprised by the different volumes and mix of materials, the cantilevered staircase and the wooden blinds.

Colors are very important since everything within the house has very specific tones. All furniture blends with their surroundings creating a very combined and harmonized environment which makes everything look in place.   The natural materials and tones we use combine perfectly. Light is another key factor for us. The house uses a mix of natural and artificial lights to bring life to the house and make it warm and cozy. The house has very large windows and domes that allow the flow of natural light as well as wooden blinds that as the day passes shift the light lines in very interesting way. At night, every space has a specific lightning with decorative elements, walls bathed in light to achieve specific textures and several different scenarios to emphasize the family needs. The lightning was designed by Luz en Arquitectura.

For Estudio 2.28 this was a great and very successful project since they were involved from the architectural, interior, lightning design to the final execution deciding on final touches and architectural styling. Estudio 2.28 is very happy with the results of this project as it exemplifies their work.
