The Malecón is the public space for excelence in Puerto Vallarta. Yet when local, natives and visitors may come the image of the temple, of the arcs islands, or some of the more significative hotels, over all it’s the Malecón, with the reminded sea horse –from Rafael Zamarripa-, the scultures of Alejandro Colunga and Sergio Bustamante, as the main agora with his stone arcs.

For many years the Malecón was interrupted in two points. First you only were allowed to walk from the Hotel Rosita to the lighthouse. After time it was able to walk until los Arcos, but the river didn’t allowed to pass to the death’s beach.

With the construction of the bridge above the river, to go on was possible. However, the esplanade between the arcs and the bridge was intended to be a public parking lot and the pedestrian walk was uncomfortable and incomplete. With the rehabilitation of this space and the installation of big sails, is possible not only to go on with the walk but for the city to have a public space where big events have place.

This is a place aside of the waves, where the recreation is upraised with restaurants and shops, making use of the public space and complementing this new scenery where the people get along with the sea, the earth and his own self.
