HSB is one of Sweden´s largest housing developers. We were comissioned to do the renovation and interior design of their Stockholm office. The building itself was completed in the 1940´s and was now in great need of a new ventilations system and general renovation.
The client also wished to visualize a new open communication strategy both in terms of office layuot; replacing own offices with open space floor plans, and in outward communication. pS arkitektur´s work dealt with integrating existing traditional features (intarsia wall, pater noster-lifts) with open space layout and interior- and lighting design.
New furniture will support a flexible working method with more shared spaces and less private space. A shop at entrance level and an inviting foyer will signal the HSB brand values and the theme for the interior: ”Welcome home”.
Social interaction and energy has been the keyword and the theme is “Welcome home”! The reception, the so called “Living shop” and the inner courtyard all merge together on the ground floor, allowing for staff and guests to mix and mingle informally. The interior design is comfortable and colourful, contrasting efficiently against the original 40´ies intarsia wall and pater noster lifts.
The office spaces takes it´s inspiration from the city block. Each block consists of a number of desks and in the centre there are “squares” and meeting points such as lounge furniture, hotdesks and telephone booths.
Some 420 people work in the building. The top floor has an amazing view over the city roof tops and presents a dozen or so meeting rooms for external meetings. Relaxing lounges and a creative space named “Think Tank” completes this welcoming office.
