The AM headquarters in Utrecht is an efficient building that suits the urban development plan.
It’s a rectangular structure with floor-to-ceiling heights above the standards to achieve an overall feeling of generosity. The façades are made of a white concrete lattice causing an alienating effect in terms of scale, depth and dimensions.
Contrary to the rigid structure of the outer walls, the interior is at the service of the spatial unity connecting the three floors in a vertical sense. A large empty space with light from above across the entire height of the building and a stately stairway form the heart around which the open office floors are situated.
The building is made up of three construction layers with offices, meeting accommodations and a company restaurant on top of a parking garage, half sunk below ground level.
