The intention of this reform was to investigate and control the relations arising between a hosted object and the context hosting it.
The hosted object has dimensions and architectural features defined and recognizable, but these features are controlled such that entering vibration and confront clearly with the context that hosts it.
In fact, the position of the object on plan and the overall spatial composition, determine the possibility of changing the general perception of the inside.
The apartment is located in the stables of an eighteenth century cottage in the center of Pragelato, Val Chisone.
The original inside is presented very suggestive and characterized by stoned double vault, typical of the traditional architecture of the area. The project was intended to leave intact the existing envelope to allow reading the existing environment as a whole.
The stone vault was restored and the pavement was made in porcelain with a finish that recalls the local dark stone.
The relationship between the existing parts to preserve and the need to respond to the needs of a second home for a single have been resolved evidencing the inclusion of a new function in a space designed for other uses.
In the center of the room has been placed a volume containing all accessory functions of the house: the bathroom, the kitchen, cabinets and pantry. This central object appears as a rectangular wooden parallelepiped, placed inside the context; coming close the surface but never touching it.
The presence of this volume organizes the area surrounding dividing the night and day-dining areas.
