Facing the picturesque Gulf of Alassio and located in a bright panoramic view, a nineteenth-century villa includes a ruined and abandoned 35 m2 wide dependence surrounded by a wide terraced park. The latter was destined to be demolished by the client and transformed in a private residence. The conceptual start up of the project is the position of the building, adapt and follow the new plan to the typical Ligurian morphological terracing.
The ceiling softly bends and at the same time becomes terrace, seats, open kitchen space, private bedroom and bathroom. The movement of the wood teak-coated floor creates a staircase passage among the different open spaces, decreasing towards the Sea.
The moving pavement contains not only hidden coffers for clothes and living room objects, but also the electrical appliances and the food cupboards-locker for the kitchen; this organization permits to exploit at best the space and to free the whole apartment from any scattered object.
The kitchen worktop is fully made in cement and hidden by a portion of the wood-teak pavement which, if necessary, becomes the banister for the night area lifting it up.
A entire glass-wall separates the living room from the outside terrace, creating a continuous dialogue between the interior space and the exterior panoramic view of the Sea, while the side-windows framed the lemon trees and olive threes of the park. The external stone work coating of the house perfectly integrates with the traditional dry-walls of the region.
