This project consisted in renovating a house designed in the 60's in which the furnishings, finishes and the overall space was subdivided in small rooms with long hallways being typical of that era. Working within the footprint of the existing structure, window and door openings were enlarged, walls, where possible, were removed in order to open the space and provide more contemporary and a spacious volume at the ownerís request. All furniture, finishing and lighting needed to be completely revisited to fit within the new volumes. The central hallway was restyled by eliminating doors on both sides, and redefining one side of the space with cubed volume made of wood. This ìmagicalî wooden cube contains two doors, mounted flush with the finish, in the same wood material, giving the impression that they blend into the cube when closed. In this project the use of natural and modern materials is evident throughout. In every room the furniture is custom-built, and every aspect of the lighting was handled with the utmost attention to detail, respecting of course the overall space and design
