PIZZACAFFE' LA TORRE #1

Nel pieno centro di Verona, all'interno della torre medievale in Via Scipione Maffei 1, si incontrano per la prima volta due elementi tutti italiani: la rinomata pizza di Saporé, frutto delle amorevoli cure del gourmet della pizza Renato Bosco e i prodotti del Caffè Coloniale, nati dalla ricerca di Luca Foggini. Lo sposalizio dà vita ad un nuovo concept di street food, dal nome Pizzacaffè LaTorre #1, un luogo dove l'altissimo grado di qualità del prodotto è inversamente proporzionale alla dimensione degli spazi, un ambiente in cui si lavora e si prepara a strettissimo contatto con il pubblico, che diventa spettatore e al contempo attore sul palcoscenico del gusto. Qui si entra, si sceglie, difficilmente si consuma, piuttosto si attende e si porta via un prodotto eccellente. Per questo lo sguardo dello spettatore è particolarmente rilevante, per questo non deve esistere filtro tra chi prepara e chi consuma, al contrario, le materie prime e il gesto di chi le lavora, devono essere ben visibili ed assumono la stessa importanza del prodotto finito. Il progetto deve far fronte ad una complessità su più piani. Innanzitutto deve mostrare chiaramente che cosa si fa qui, deve parlare di materie prime semplici, naturali e di qualità, deve trasferire lo stesso concetto sull'architettura, utilizzando materiali puri e linee pulite ma al contempo sensuali. Il legno naturale del banco, dei pannelli e degli arredi disegnati ad hoc, è protagonista assoluto; alle pareti le piastrelle bianche nella zona di preparazione ricordano i vecchi panifici, mentre un intonaco di terra cruda accoglie il pubblico con morbidezza; infine la conservazione degli elementi originali (travature a soffitto e palladiana a pavimento) raccontano un pezzo di storia del luogo. Ma è con la dimensione ridottissima della pianta che il progetto deve davvero misurarsi, riuscendo a trovare un posto ad ogni funzione, frazionando meticolosamente gli spazi di lavoro e di sosta, fino a quasi moltiplicarli ed a creare l'illusione dell'abbondanza, abbattendo ogni barriera visiva tra chi sta dietro il banco e chi vi sta di fronte. Central Verona: into the medieval tower of Via Scipione Maffei 1, two very italian elements meet each other for the first time: from one side the popular pizza of “Saporè”, result of the loving care of the pizza gourmet Renato Bosco; from the other side the products of “Caffè Coloniale”, born from the patient research of Luke Foggini. The marriage gives rise to a new concept of street food, named Pizzacaffè LaTorre # 1, a place where the highest level of product quality is inversely proportional to the given space size, an environment in which working and preparing food is in a very close contact with the public, and at the same time a place where the viewer becomes an actor on the stage of taste. Here you enter, you choose, you rarely consume, rather you wait and take away an excellent product. For this reason the viewer's gaze is particularly important, that's why there should be no filter between those who prepare and those who consume, on the contrary, the raw materials and the gesture of those who works, must be clearly visible and assume the same importance as the finished product. The project has to cope with a multi-storey complex. First of all, must clearly show what is being done here, must speak of simple raw materials, natural and quality, must transfer the same concept into architecture, using pure materials and clean lines but at the same time sensual. The natural wood used for the desk, the panels and the furniture (all designed on purpose) is the absolute protagonist; white tiles on the walls in the preparation area remind the old bakeries, while a plaster of clay welcomes the public with softness. Finally, the preservation of the original elements (beams in the ceiling and Palladian floor) tell a piece of history of the place. But it is with the reduced size of the plan that the project had really to deal, managing to find a place for each function, splitting meticulously workspaces and staging, to almost multiply and create the illusion of space abundance, breaking down each visual barrier between who is behind the desk and who you're facing.
