The apartment is located in Faliro on the top floor of a building constructed during the 80s. New facts in the owners' everyday life, the need for change and experimentation in their aesthetic, inspired the reformation of the space. Without changing the positions of the bedroom, kitchen, baths or living room, the spaces were redesigned and the relationship between them was redefined. The charmless, narrow and dark corridor that connects the spaces acquired other functions and roles. The wooden white-lacquered construction along the corridor -which passes in front of the living room and leads to the entrance, has now integrated audio-visual systems. The door of the visitors' wc, which now only appears at the touch of the light switch, is illuminated by hidden lighting at the top and bottom of the corridor. The design finally "embraces" the large rectangular window that was opened in the main stairwell skylight of the building. The multifunctional kitchen became visible from the living and dining rooms and can be isolated with glass sliding surfaces; the wooden frame of the sliding doors hides the radiators and offers extra storage space. The structural column between the living and dining rooms was stripped from plasters and other gypsum construction to show its true role and material (concrete). A simple and discreet metallic utilitarian piece of furniture now rests on it. In the dining room, a corner of the external wall was removed and replaced by fixed sandblasted glass that lets the natural light enter during the day, while at night, with the help of an external projector, works like a luminaire. The fireplace, free from the use of a television was redesigned to have a central role in the living room, which functions as a space for resting and reading. The choice of materials used throughout aimed the brightness (white lacquer), serenity and naturalness (natural oak), sincerity and robustness (bare concrete), thus letting the owners integrate their personal objects and furniture with no restrictions.
