Residential complex project grouped around a central internal street, which once again employs the geometrical methodology of combining cubic volumes in space. While in Walden-7 the cubes were constructed in two floor units, in the Petite Cathédrale they have been structured over three floors, the intermediate level serving for circulation. The design of the central street is a provocative evocation of the plan of a Gothic cathedral. The disposition of the cubes, reminiscent of Walden-7, reproduces the elevation of the naves, side chapels, main front, transept and apse. Apart from the cultural symbolism, this reinterpreting of Gothic architecture in a scheme for middle and working class housing reflects an aspiration to offer the inhabitants the opportunity to enjoy generous monumental public spaces.
