Low income families provided the opportunity to choose their own home design:
Collaboration between three NGOs results in design competition that brings new life to housing design and delivery for low income families living in Cambodia. Building Trust International, Habitat for Humanity and Karuna Cambodia partnered to develop a range of solutions for affordable, flood resistant housing in Cambodia.
The design competition asked for designs of a $2500 house that can withstand flooding and offer a safe and secure home for low income families in Cambodia. Habitat for Humanity Cambodia worked with our organisation to deliver the three winning designs from the competition.
An American based team, Keith Greenwald and Lisa Ekle were chosen as one of the winning entries. Their design 'Open Embrace' was constructed on the outskirts of Phnom Penh in the Summer of 2013, providing a safe, flood resistant home to a family who were very much in need.
