The conversion of a Grade II listed mills into 190 apartments including a two storey roof top extension. The core fabric of the building has been retained, whilst reinstating the original window design and using decorative elements of the building to introduce further natural light. The two storey roof scheme is inspired by plaited yarns of silk, once produced by the mill. A great deal of time was invested with the council and English Heritage to ensure that planning would be granted. Extensive research and optioneering was carried out to secure this eventuality. The client also required a sales suite and show room to be complete during the early stages of the project.
