For the villages of Sangha in Mali LEVS made the design for a practical training college for 800 students that provides the area with a construction and agricultural education facility. The architecture is in line with local culture and building traditions. At the same time the design provides a solution to the new scale of a large school in a village setting which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. The school consists of several ensembles of classrooms, workshops, offices and storerooms. The buildings are made of under high pressure compressed earth blocks (HCEB). With stone plinths and enclosures, and the large, landscaped agriculture garden they create a "new neighbourhood". By using the HCEB stone, the buildings withstand the climate of both bright sunlight and heavy rainfall. The stones are produced on-spot from locally mined clay. Processed in vaults, they provide optimum cooling climate.
