“A beach hut is a uniquely British experience and one of the simple pleasures of a seaside holiday at home. Situated right on the beach, decorated in jolly colours and equipped with deck chairs and a gas stove for brewing tea, the beach hut is the perfect place to change out of damp swimming costumes, make crab sandwiches, shelter from the weather and generally watch the world go by. Even on a windy day, there is nothing better than settling down in a deck chair, with a book and a cup of tea, wrapped in a travelling rug.”

The design provides distinctive, low maintenance, secure beach huts with an undulating roof profile that will be seen from the higher paths behind the site. Gaps between the huts ensure that the view of the sea is not blocked from behind. The canted shape of the huts means that the doors are orientated towards the South with the coloured doors and shutters creating variety within a strong overall repeating form. The interiors are robust and ply lined allowing  customisation: they can be painted or fitted out with further cupboards by the tenants.
