The main changes occur in the design of the stands, where new structures are designed to meet the ideal conditions of visibility, safety and comfort. Parts of the north and south stands will be maintained, as well as its distinctive elliptical design. The grandstands on the sides were approximated to the playing field by 13 meters, creating a significant increase in the gaming experience. As they walk inside the stadium to their seats, spectators can see the first interventions and feel the result of the improvements. Right now, you can experience the full grandeur of the nearly 80,000 refurbished seats and the marking presence of the huge, lightweight translucent cover, "floating" lightly, almost without touching the existing structure, crowning and protecting the stadium. The objective is not only to make sure everyone is in Maracanã, but mainly awaken a renewed pride and a sense that Maracanã will be eternal. The roof is one of the main elements that were introduced in stages. Over the past 20 years, virtually every major stadium - new or refurbished, have a roof. This movement is directly linked to the need to increase the overall comfort of all users and major functional areas such as the press.
