Re-designing the Willie Meyer extensions, to the Johannesburg Art Gallery by Edwin Lutyens. Inspired by the overlooking park and it’s evident “safety hazards” - occupied by the homeless. By merging the park to the Johannesburg art gallery and creating a cacoon like structure wrapping around into the gallery providing a feel of safety and solitude for the individual to appreciate the underlying and surrounding art. Deconstruction and re-use of the existing materials and elements creates a subtle change from the appreciated old into the new. The upper floor holds the jag school of arts facilities.
