A colleague called me and asked me to make a concept design for a house of friend of him. The plot for it is in Bankya, near Sofia. The House had to be for one family and designed on two-storey. The Client wanted standard working-out with a living area on the first floor and sleeping area on the second floor. Total floor area of 250sq.m. The approach to the property is through blind alley between houses. Courtyards in the neighborhood are planned with a lot of trees and shrubs. We proposed a concept based on closed and proper form – square and cube. Design of plans and volumes consists of two small and one large square (cube) which are made of different materials, respectively – copper sheet covering, concrete and plaster façade. The volumes are separate from one another by the glazed breaks with communication function. On the first floor living room is with big windows front to south yard, and garage and service rooms placed to the north part of the level. The second floor contains large master bedroom, two children’s rooms and one guest room in the volume above the garage. In partly used underground level are placed technical and storage rooms.
