Photographer: Nico Saieh Video: Nico Saieh About a second home, it is inevitable to imagine a place with special features, much more if it is facing the sea. The Elizabeth House, as we call it for a long time in honor of his owner, who is a single 50 years old mother, reflects very well the clarity, simplicity and honesty with which, in our view, should tackle these projects. The important thing was the location, to refuge from the wind of “Punta de Gallo” cliff, and to protect the surrounding vegetation of weeds, thorns and docks. The house is based on a grid of pillars of 3.50 x 3.50 meters, that sorts well modulating beams that ends up embracing the house , leading a terrace and a small central space (where the Jacuzzi barrel is). The structure is left to the view being part of the external expression of the house. The walls, that are arranged inside of the structure, make enclosures whose dimensions are arranged on the module. The interior partitions are made of white painted pine, the same wood chosen for the structure, a wood of the area and very well known by all carpenter. So, this shelter on a cliff of the coast of the V Region of Chile has been opened for a few months and has already received visitors that are looking for a place to retire and look into the sea. Outside, the house was treated with graphite gray primers that ensure low maintenance over time and that strengthen the form of a container. [ES] Cuando se piensa en una segunda vivienda, es inevitable imaginar un lugar con características especiales, más aún si este es frente al mar. La casa Elizabeth, como la llamamos durante mucho tiempo en honor a su propietaria, una mujer sola, madre de familia, que ya pasa los 50 años, refleja muy bien la claridad, simpleza y honestidad con la cual, a nuestra manera de ver, debieran enfrentarse éstos proyectos. Lo importante es el lugar y el cobijo del viento en punta de gallo, que la vegetación a base de malezas, espinos y docas, siga intacta. La casa a manera de un pabellón se apoya sobre una retícula de pilares de 3.50 x 3,50, que ordena así también la modulación de vigas que termina por abrazar la casa, generando con la terraza y un pequeño espacio central (donde va la cuba) un todo estructural que se deja a la vista siendo partícipe de su expresión exterior. Sus muros, dispuestos en cara interior de la estructura, van conformando los recintos cuyas dimensiones se acomodan al módulo. El tabique interior, de acabado en pino y aguada blanca, al igual que la madera escogida para su estructura, de fácil acceso en la zona y conocida por todo carpintero permitieron que esta casa con recursos limitados llegará a feliz término, y no como una obligación autoimpuesta por la cantidad de gastos que ahí se hicieron. Así este refugio sobre un acantilado de la costa de la V Región, ya tiene varios meses de uso y no ha parado de recibir visitas, que buscan retirarse y mirar con calma el mar. Por fuera, la casa fue tratada con imprimantes de color gris grafito que aseguran una baja mantención en el tiempo y fortalecen el aspecto de contenedor que siempre buscó el proyecto.
