It, like the outside at the inside, Is a space with the richness and internally as at the outside. 敷地は大分県北部に位置する。 住宅地の造成が拡大している地域であり、 南側・西側に住宅が建ち並ぶ反面、北側には広大な田園風景が残されていた。 この表裏反面するような環境に対しての建物の開閉、内外との関係性から この住宅のあり方や空間を考えた。 南北軸は、約７ｍの大開口をそれぞれ異なる高さに３ヶ所設け、南北を繋ぎ 合わせている。 南側の大開口を上げる事で隣家からのプライバシーと採光・通風を確保している。対して、北側は田園を見下ろすように眺望を確保している。 また、建物長辺方向を東西軸にとり、吹抜け方向・開口の向き・無垢床材・木製建具の鴨居やレールの方向性を統一する事で距離感や空間に伸びを作り出した。 南北軸に大開口をくり貫く事で空洞を作り、東西軸へ方向性と距離感を与え、 ひとまとまりのシンプルな形の中に広がりをもたせている。 空間の内と外との関係から開閉を操作することで、プライベートな場や開放性を同時につくり出せるような空間を考えた。それは、内部にいて外部のような、外部にいて内部のような豊かさのある空間である。
