Embracing city preservation and zoning requirements, this renovation was accomplished sustainably and within a tiny budget. To achieve the clients' wish for more space, we created a vertical extension to house the public functions and grasp sweeping views of the San Francisco Bay. The new third floor is connected to the garden space in back via a steel catwalk. Sleeping and bathing areas remain on the 2nd floor. Materials: Exterior cladding: Ramp Armor Deluxe Interior walls: drywall. Interior ceilings: drywall. Floors: Urethane sealed OSB Windows and exterior doors: Thermally broken aluminum with low-e glass Roofing: Built-up single-ply roofing Cabinetwork: Birch custom faces Structural system: Wood framing and on concrete foundation. Lighting: Custom recessed T5 strip light Bathroom Wall Tile: Travertine
