A  CURTYARD FOR SHARING

This project born from the idea of re-elaborating a classical architecture typology: the City Block.

Program is housing, city is Berlin.

As well explained Aldo Rossi into his book "The Architecture of the City", Berlin is one of the main city in which future constructions must be designed in regard to the originals urban matrix .

This project shows a challenge: aim to be a today social and open urban space, by being inside a closed city block.

The Architecture of this building has been developed so to create a design which respect basic rules but changing spaces on the inside. 

Usually Block typology buildings have courtyards in the centre: a courtyard that cross the whole building in vertical way.

Here is proposed an idea where central courtyard  can be developed  in vertical and in horizontal directions; open it through every ways revolutionizing spaces inside it.

The project has grown in parallel with research over typology and possibilities to create a conglomerate inhomogeneous and multitasking.

Levels has different functions :

   .Public spaces

   (cultural center, ateliers, shops, a library, bars and restaurants) on ground floor that has also a mezzanine;

     .Semi-private spaces

    (Schools, offices, medical and fitness) on first

     .Private spaces (residential) all connected on last levels, having the whole comfortable privacy they need and the     better views out the city.

 S-M-L is the courtyard size which grows the building levels one over each other.
